Kateřina Ondrušková
Bio
Kateřina Ondrušková was born in 1991 in Uherské Hradiště, graduated from the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Uherské Hradiště (2008 – 2011) and then studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (2013 – 2019, Painting III by Michael Rittstein, Painting I by Jiří Sopko/Robert Šalanda and studio Malba III studio of Josef Bolf and Jakub Hošek). In 2017, she studied at the University of Porto in Porto (Portugal). In her work, Ondrušková processes natural motifs, especially flowers. Her art is deeply personal, focusing primarily on her own thoughts and melancholic excerpts from her memory. Instead of visualization, it replaces concrete natural formations with ambiguous signs, words or abbreviations. During graduation, she was mainly interested in gardens, with her latest works inspired by her travels in the Middle East. Her trip to Jordan led to three thematic cycles, with the SAD ROCK series becoming a crucial archetype for her continued search for organic forms. In 2021, she exhibited at the Trafo Gallery in a group exhibition called TA painting.
