The exhibition Landscapes of the Soul is the first purely landscape presentation of the artist, who is known more as a figurative painter. We could find more references to the history of landscape painting in Herz. However unorthodox the artist is in his inspirations, representatives of 19th century art dominate here. Far from being only examples from the visual arts, music and literature, especially poetry, play an equally important role. Richard Wagner's music dramas have an exceptional position. Herz is fascinated by Wagner's creative approach, deep thought and turbulent emotions; Herz's individual works are also parts of a larger narrative, truly monumental murals reflecting his everyday loneliness and isolation.
