Ester Knapová: Winter Apples
Accompanying catalog to the exhibition of the young painter Ester Knapová, whose paintings spread a kind of dreamlike mood at first glance. They draw us into various remote times and present familiar situations that remind us of many things. The author opens up to us the half-forgotten world of her own past, which is not strictly just her world. Rather, it is a found form of sharing and awakens the viewer from passivity. It makes us remember things and moments that were somehow important to the present, even if it didn't seem like it "back then". A network of involuntary observations, banal objects, nooks and crannies, hiding places, a network of abandoned places in which the Morandi silence speaks, this is where Ester Knapová returns to recall long-obscured connections. Those connections that shed a different light on the lived time, and that magically transform the seemingly unimportant into what suddenly appears to be key and essential from today's perspective. It is the discovery of something lost, which at least exists in memory and memories, and which is therefore accessible in certain ways.
